Getting to know the tradition of klapa singing in Omiš

There is a saying “Klapa is a circle with a central point in Omiš”. Therefore, there is no better place to introduce you to the world of klapa singing recognised by UNESCO and included in its list of intangible cultural heritage.

However, klapa is not only a way of singing, klapa is also companionship, friendship, a sense of belonging, and Dalmatia. Klapa is a way of life that we will gladly introduce you to while walking the streets of Omiš. We`ll take you on a tour of the town localities that will give you the best insight into how klapa singing was invented when friends used to gather in a tavern and sing a cappella, a way characteristic of the Dalmatian klapa, and show you how over time that song moved onto the streets and squares of Omiš and transcended all boundaries.

The programme includes:

• the tour of Omiš and locations related to klapa singing
• a traditional Dalmatian brunch in a tavern, the original site of klapa singing
• a visit to the multimedia exhibition of Dalmatian klapa with an expert guide
• accompaniment of a licenced guide
