A Story of Wine – stroy of smutica
Are you ready to experience wine in a truly different, almost forgotten way?
We take you back to the first half of the 20th century, where the story of nona Keka, her goat, and wine unfolds. For nona Keka, the goat was not just an animal, and wine was not just a drink—they were a source of nourishment and a symbol of survival. Bringing them together was a simple drink that sustained generations of people on Brač – smutica.
This tour guides you through the history of winemaking on Brač, revealing the process of wine production as well as the difficult fate that once affected the island’s goats. We will visit an old tavern, learn about a tradition that has lasted for centuries, and taste wine in a slightly different way.
This is not only a story about wine and a goat, but also about the spirit of Brač, and the resilience and determination to endure.
