FAIRY IMOTA
Discover Imotski and its people through a wealth of heritage stories about fairies — stories that gave many local places their “fairy” names, such as Fairy Cave, Fairy Resting Place, and even the surname Vilenica.
Through their inspiring and instructive legends, the people of Imotski explained the origins of their many lakes, springs, and caves; they described their difficult past and their courageous struggle for survival.
Were the lake fairies and other supernatural beings merely a way to ease the burden of life in a harsh environment and turbulent history — or were they truly real?
During this thematic interpretive walk, you’ll get to know the City on the Hill and the natural wonders of the Blue and Red Lakes. Alongside the fairy tales of the Blue Lake, you’ll hear how the greedy Gavan met his fate and how the Red Lake was formed. You’ll also see the legendary resting place of the famous Hasanaginica.
You’ll learn about the heritage of ancient Emotha, the lifestyle, customs, and beliefs of the local people, and you’ll enjoy the otherworldly natural beauty of the blue heart of Imotski and its inhabitants — the Blue Lake.
If you listen closely to the stories of this land, the lake fairies may reward you with their presence.
We’re waiting for you!
